The Pauline Order is the only male religious order founded in Hungary. The Order is present in numerous other countries around the world and currently has four monasteries in Hungary: Pécs, Pálosszentkút, Budapest, and Márianosztra. Cave Church on Gellért Hill is part of the monastery and church in Budapest. The basis of monastic life is freedom from worldly bondages and a child-like reliance on Providence. To strengthen their resolve, Pauline Monks relocate from one monastery to the other every couple of years. That’s why the inhabitants of Cave Church also change periodically. The following Pauline Monks currently reside at Cave Church:

Tourists are not permitted in the church during holy mass.
